Default Hey everyone

Hey guys. I'm new here. Just popped in to dig up some more info on Ken Smith basses. I'm really digging the Smith tone.

I'm also trying to find some info on the earlier Smith's.

Currently, I have a new BSR4M and the playability is a dream. The tone is perfect for my current projects. I should have picked one up years ago. My main project is electric jazz. I use that term since 'smooth jazz' brings up negative conotations, but it's smooth jazz with more edge.

I know Ken has been making basses for years and I'd love to pick up a 'vintage' Ken Smith. I don't know where to start or even what to look for. I'm trying to find out what the earliest years are and how they differ, tonally, to the newer basses.

Thanks for maintaining a great forum here.

If you haven't had much luck finding an older Smith, this should be your best bet: http://www.smithbassforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=37

Tell people what you want, somebody on here just might be selling..
