Wink Did I blink or is that the flash whiting out my eyes?

Front row, R-Ken Smith, L-Larry Jones Jr...Back row, R-Harvey Kaufman, L-Chris Clark

I might also ad that this was Larry's first time in this section, filling in for the other regular that's usually at my side in this orchestra. The section has been together for a few years now in this Orchestra as well as one other Orchestra but with a different 4th player there but the 2 guys behind me and myself have played together for several years now. Larry fit in just fine as he did about a year earlier in another orchestra filling in as well. It's nice when all the guys know each other and usually work together. It makes for effortless communication within the section. We probably have the best and tightest (the basses) of the string sections in both of the regular Orchestras I play in. It also helps to be able to choose who I want in the section as well as how to place them within.

Thumbs up Posing..

We had just played the first half, "Escales/Ports of Call" by Ibert and also a Guitar "concerto, de Aranjuez" by 'Rodrigo'. A Famous theme in there. So this was the face I made with the 2nd 1/2 to come, "In a Persian Market"/'Ketelbey' (the easier piece of the night) and "Romanian Rhapsody" by 'Enesco' (and I jumped back for all the Low Ds on that soon to be replaced Extension.)

Thumbs up found another..

I just found this on my main orchestras' new website. It looks to be my Marconcini bass. From the first picture, I wasn't sure from what concert this was from but in a black jacket, I know it wasn't a rehearsal. Then I found another picture and it became clear that it was a Chamber concert at Acadia University and the 1st we did there. Only one bass for this one as the other Chamber concerts I did with this orchestra with just one bass I played my former Gilkes, my Uebel and my Vieneese-Prague bass, in that order. This was the only concert that I used the Marcincini bass being the solo player.

Cool Going French for a month or two..

This is the first SPSO concert of the season. Although I have played with every player in this section, the four of us have never been in the same section before. Back row l-r, Steve Kyle, Larry Jones. Front row l-r, Kevin MacConnell, Ken Smith. This is the first concert using the Jacquet-Pillement in absence of the Marcucci that is still in restoration. The basses sounded great.

Lightbulb One more..

This is from about 1-2 years ago. Forgot about it as it's on the Orchestra's website so before they change their Pics, here it is. I am playing first stand with the light colored Kreutzer bass.

Default found one more..

I found the on the FB page of The Orchestra Society of Philadelphia. This is a reading orchestra only. This shot was from October 11, 2013. We did the Verdi Requiem that night and I played the solo (with cellos & chorus) on the Agnes Dei. I'm in the red shirt playing first principal bass. I recall using the Hart bass that night. I think it's the last time I played it before it was sold.

Default Marconcini goes to 'school'

That's me with the Marconcini bass in the Pit, bottom left. I mentioned this to one of the Luthiers I work with and he said "you're playing in the Pit with the "Marconcini"? .. Obviously Not approving of the environment for safety reasons. All was well. We did just 2 rehearsals and 3 performances. The bass is fine and back in the rack at my office. It sounded fantastic. My playing was "Ok"' as well.. lol
