Default Used Ken Smith 5 string for sale

I'm a newbie here, and I hope that I'm listing this in the proper section.

I'm selling my elderly father's pride and joy for him.
I joined this forum specifically to ensure that his bass will go to someone who will appreciate this finely crafted instrument.
I don't play the bass guitar (I'm a drummer) but I'm not clueless either. I know what to look for in regards to a guitars condition, and I will do my best to give you an accurate description of this bass.

He bought it from the original owner in 2003.
It has VERY little use and is in VERY good condition.
Since he acquired it, it has spent most of its life in its case, in a pet/smoke free, climate controlled home.

It is a 5 string made of maple and walnut with gold hardware with active electronics.
The model/serial stamped into the base of the neck reads;
5GBMW95498 T

Full disclosure here . .

Fret wear is minimal, and is mostly between frets 3 - 8 beneath the E, A and D strings.
Headstock is good, and the neck is straight.
After a VERY close inspection under good lighting, I found 7 very small dings that are difficult to see unless your looking real hard for them !

I had my bass player (a 38 year veteran bass player) put it through its paces, and his opinion of this bass; "It is a very nice playing instrument, feels really good in your hands, in VERY good condition, and a pleasure to play"
His words, not mine.

I asked my Dad why he strung it with flat rounds with the exception of the B which is a round wound.
He said he liked the sound of the round wound better on the B verses a flat wound. Said it was a "warmer" sound.

He also told me that the only conditioner that the maple and walnut have ever seen came recommended for this particular bass, and purchased from Ken Smith
No "Pledge" on this beauty !

It comes in an "Access" soft bag, the original Ken Smith strap with locks, and a couple of original Ken Smith soft cloth.

I REALLY don't want to ship this bass, but if you pay actual shipping cost, and have it professionally packaged, I might reconsider.
I will however drive up to a 50 mile radius from Springfield Massachusetts free of charge.

I'm asking $2500

Any input that you folks can offer will be greatly appreciated !

My apologies for this small novel, but the more info I give you up front, the less questions that I will need to answer, and please feel free to ask questions. I will do my best to answer them.

Lightbulb 5gb mw

This model name was short lived and was a 'package' made at that time 1997-1998 or so. It would be similar to the P model bolt-on with 3 pc body and a 5pc neck plus the ebony FB.

The models today are slightly different so this would be between a P/Pro model and the PE/Elite model basses as some minor specs have been changed just this year.
