Pickups in the original Burners
Hey guys,
A few years back I bought an '98 Ken Smith Burner 5 (original Japanese series) but like many basses that made it through that era, the pickups had been swapped for Bartolini's Just trying to find information on who made the original pickups, and the closest pickup available for sale in 2016 is. I've read differing things about whether Bill Lawrence or Dan Armstrong made/designed the originals, and I've already contacted Hajime at Sleek elite (who replied personally) but according to him "Different company made old Burners. Then mine is not match to older one due to string spacing." Currently I have some Bill Lawrence J-45's in the bass (http://wildepickups.com/Bass_Pickups.html), but I'm not sure if should chase down some Armstrong pickups to compare them? I'm pretty keen on trying to get as close as possible back to stock. Any information or help would be appreciated! Thanks Aidan |

Nope
NO, Originals were made in Japan by a small company.
