Default P.A.P.A. Preamp question

I know this is a Smith forum but I can't quite afford one yet. With the Pedulla Thunderbolt I have, can I use the P.A.P.A. preamp since both are active? Would it make that much of an improvement over the sound I already have? The highs are really good the lows a little muddy, sometimes. I am running a Fender rumble 100. I know it isn't the amps everyone else run but I don't have $1k for that either, right now. It may be the amp causing sound issue also but I honestly don't know. I love the Smith sound I hear on Youtube.

Thanks for the help

Don

Sure, set the bass flat and use the P.A.P.A. to adjust your tone.

Would it make much of an improvement? You'll have to try it with your set-up to determine that.

Yeah, the amp you have is a problem. Until you can upgrade your amp and cabinets, you won't fully know the potential of what you have with your instruments.

As far as "the Smith sound you hear on Youtube"? Not a good measure. Once you hear a Smith played through a quality set-up live, then you can better determine what a great sounding bass set-up you have.

I am hitting the wife up, weekly to get her in the mind-set. One day...one day.
