Default What makes the wood Exotic

I see that certain woods are exotic like Figured Walnut, Imbuia, Shedua. Others are Premium Exotic like Zebrawood, Ebony, and Cocobolo. My questions is what makes these woods exotic? It is the cosmetic value, or the overall superior qualities in tone?

Just names and descriptions used for models and prices. Premium is more money. Like when you pay a premium for something because it just costs extra.

Because those are the woods I have chosen to make basses from based on their qualities, etc.

Go into a seafood restaurant and ask for Cobia, Snook, Green Dolphin (mahi mahi), Spanish Mackerel, King Fish and Blue Runner.

Unless you are down in South Florida, you wont find them on the menu. Even so, it's not commercially sold unless you hang out on the Docks or Fishing Piers. I caught and ate all but the Kingfish. The one that got away!

Like with woods, in some countries, they will find and use what's available locally/domestically and what they import in to make their product. We do sort of the same thing BUT, we are not buying, stocking and aging woods to make furniture or art objects. We are making musical instruments with a strong emphasis on 'musical'.

I have on my menu what I like to serve!
