why are these plates stamped H Schneegans??

on a Kennedy bass.

who was Schneegans?

I'm sure, but I was hoping perhaps someone knew about H Schneegans. A Google search shows that name in a number of historical and musical texts, but so far I don't find the connection with either double bass or machine shops.

Ask Bill at Thwaites and Tom Martin as well as Tony Hooska. Maybe they have seen this before.
