Default Smith fretless

Good morning from Spain ....
I wanted to make a question to the forum ...

What are the most appropriate wood to build a fretless?
Within a few months I want to order a fretless 5 string Smith and wanted to know the opinion of users.

Thank you very much.

Jose Luis.

Default Smith fretless II

Hello again ...
I insist on the fretless issue .... I wish someone indicate me timbers are best suited to build a fretless? Woods neck and body woods ... It is important a particular type of wood or wood being all quality does not matter? They must be dense?
Ken, I'd like to get your opinion .... Thanks

Definitely best to email or call Ken as there are a lot of variables depending on your goals wrt sound, weight, appearance, etc.

It looks like there is no radius on the fretboard? Was that an option on the fretless?

Plenty of radius. See one in person and measure it.

Absolutely not! But it's very frustrating wanting to try one of these beautyfull basses, and not to succeed.
I've contacted several big musicstores in my country and also the importer of Ken Smith basses overhere. With no result.
So I have to wait with a measurement untill I spot one in the flesh.

It is a very comfortable bass that Pro's PAY for. You can play 100 of them and they will all sound and feel slightly different but with the same timeless quality built into each one. Anyone can make a size or shape. It is HOW you make it more so than just a shape.
