Default Is this a German Bass?

I have been looking at this bass which has become available. If anybody has any ideas of origin I'd be most appreciative. It appears to be old...

I have no idea what that is. It looks like a bit of everything all in one bass. The back wood looks like mahogany. I have seen basses from South America that looked a bit like that. Italian trained or influenced makers building in and around Argentina, Columbia and Brazil. The open pegbox looks slightly French but have seen them on some other basses as well.

I would have to see inside the bass to know more. if in the UK, try asking Tom Martin or one of the others there.

Thanks for your opinion Ken,
I was really impressed with the sound of this odd bass and I guess thats what matters most. I'll have to go and pick it up!
