Default Bass ID Help

Hi, I had purchased this bass for a very good price and I really can't find out too much about it. I would love if you could maybe tell me some more info. It's in pretty rough condition so I'm thinking it's fairly old. The label on the inside is a fake Stradt label that says "made in Czechoslovakia", but stamped over it faintly is "Made in Germany." Thanks for your time!

The German/Czech Border in Bohemia is where this is made. The "Made In" has to do with import duty usually. Shops on both sides of the border worked together.

This is Plywood or carved? Can't tell from your pics. The flames might be painted on as I don't see them inside the bass on the back.

This is probably made between the two wars. Maybe 1930s. Maybe later.

If you don't know anything about it, how do you know it was a good price? The neck is perfect? The set-up is perfect? Some repairs can cost thousands and repairs can often exceed the value of the bass.

Thank you for the information! I had talked to and shown pictures to a local luthier before buying it and the quote he gave for the repairs was very reasonable, so I went ahead with the purchase. How can I tell if the bass is carved or plywood, or what pictures would help you determine that?

Just ask the Luthier that will see the bass in person. Plywood is usually 3 layers top and back. If you see the grain crossing the edges, it is sold wood. If you see layers, it is ply.
