Eden WT-550.......
The Eden WT-550 is one of Eden's best, if not the best, bass heads ever made; period. So, if your are looking for a bass head that can handle the job, congratulations, you've got it. Now it's up to you to learn how to use it; whether its the DI out and/or with the appropriate cabinets and speaker configurations.

The mix?

In the end, what you are hearing is both an experienced bass player and sound engineer: It's a great mix for sure, however, it takes both individuals and experience to make it happen.

and..
Looks like that re-finished Bass has the wrong strings as well. Also, what finish is it if re-done? The finish has a sound too! If not my finish, it will not have all of my sound.

I hate to say it, but the answer you got is not far off from the truth. While the bass definitely has a major role in the tone, the same bass sounds very different based on who is playing it. My bass sounds totally different to me when someone else plays it.
Tone is a product of the bass, the amp/effects, and the bassist. The clip you provided did seem to have a tube compressed sound to me, but a tone similar to that is definitely alive somewhere in that bass you have. I can get pretty close to that with my fretless Smith, and he's playing with frets, so it's living somewhere in those EQ knobs. I also play through a Peavey Firebass 700 amp which is solid state just like your TNT, and the tone is in there.

It's time to show you my love
It' a 92 BT6 I bought this bass to a guy who change the preamp to a 4 knob glockenlang preamp... I decided to buy and install the real and the only one Ken Smith 3 knob one and a luthier behind my place worked on it. He had to make a little peace of wood and add on the hole. Tell me what do you think... To Ken, what do you think about the work on it ? Last edited by frederic vidal; 03-12-2010 at 02:14 PM. |

My new BABY!!!
Hi to everybody. This is my first time posting here. I started playing bass when I was 12 years old, and when I turned 15 I heard the first Ken Smith bass and I was amazed at the sound it produced! Since that age I've been obsessed with a Ken Smith, I will say it's the bass of my dreams!!! I started playing at church, so by the age of 17 I played with a Christian band down in Mexico so the director of the band bought a Ken Smith bass for me. I was so excited but I didn't enjoy it for the simple fact that it wasn't mine. Lets fast forward that 12 years later and now I own my Ken Smith that I have always wanted, here are the spec.
Model: BSR6GN Walnut Top & Back/Tiger Maple Core, 5pc Neck through/Macasar Ebony Fingerboard w/Mother of Pearl Top & Side dots, series/parallel switch. Like I said I haven't not picked up a bass in 12 years so today I received my brand new Ken Smith bass and I practiced for about an hour, my fingers are hurting. The muscle memory is still there but not the agility. I'm very happy with my Ken Smith I finally have my dream bass and it sounds amazing. I stopped playing bass because I joined the military so I didn't have time to practice and I just left it. But now that I'm settled in I plan on playing again, and even better why not start playing with your dream bass. Ken what do you do to your basses that sound amazing!!! I'm a VERY VERY VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!!! I'm new here so I don't know how to post pictures of my bass, so here are the links to my facebook. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...1&id=754271116 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...d=410104601116 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...d=410104611116 |

Thanks Tim I still have to settle in my mind that I own a Ken Smith, just received it today so I'm still a little shocked! Ken I will say that I have played a lot of basses, example (Michael Tobias, Modulus, Pedulla ect) and they sound good, but they tend to imitate the sound of a Ken Smith. I can't stop saying how happy of a customer I am!!! Now my next goal is to get a nice amp.

Nice...
I've been playing Smith basses now for 12 years and counting and don't think I could be any more satisfied.

Amps?
There's allot of nice light-weight amps out there on the market that can put out around 500W at 4 ohms and weigh around 4lbs.

moderator please feel free
moderator please feel free to direct me to the correct forum. Tim, for the past 12 years I've been a fan of SWR and DAVID EDEN. I have played with many basses and different type of transducer amps. When I was playing that Ken Smith at the Christian band I played with a 4X10 Hartke cabinet and a 200w head. I was not impressed and that's is probably why I didn't not enjoyed the Ken Smith. On the other hand I've played a Ken Smith thru an SWR and a DAVID EDEN and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD it sounds amaing. Completely different sound!!!!
