+1; nice post. I agree with the take on both Evahs and Flex92s - I don't care for the former and sometimes like the latter. Though, I don't like BelCantos either. Sounds like the Passione might be a...

Question Extension weights

Was eyeing the KC strings brass extension earlier (again :) ) and wondering about how the main objection has been weight - on the site they say three pounds.

That's cool - thanks for posting it. Do you plan to do the ends in maple (or whatever the ribs will be) or something contrasting?

Check my first post on the subject - I have tried it, and thought it seemed odd. The thin strings just didn't feel right, even if the tension was closer to normal. Which I'm not convinced of. ;)

Well, I don't know how the math works really so I suppose the tension might work out to be about right - but I think the problem has more to do with the fact that the solo strings are also thin. It...

I think solo strings (tuned down) might be a bit drastic - I've played a few basses with solos tuned down in the past and found them to be pretty anemic. But, several strings come in light gauges. I...

Well, sure - on...

I agree with Ken - it is important for the working bassist to remain flexible, yet keep his adjustable rod close at hand.
