Default Installing tuning gears

I am about to drill a bunch of holes into the pegbox for tuning gears.

The photo below shows a 1/8" ply tracings of the tuners, being laid out on the peg box.

What are some things look for in a good layout?

What should I avoid?

Any comments would be appreciated.
