![]() The following link is a 30 second commercial clip where I played and recorded the bass track using PreSonus FireBox as Audio Interface and Sonar as the recording software: No effects on the bass; everything flat. I'm using a Smith Cocobolo 5EG: Smith Medium Taper Core Strings, Volume 100%, Pan centered, all Tone Controls flat (i.e. centered).

![]() I should have given my EQ settings used in those recordings..
Mids set flat, Highs slightly boosted (1 o'clock) Bass slightly boosted (2 o'clock), pickups set slightly favoring bridge pickup (11 o'clock), Bridge pickup in series, Neck in parallel. I've found that really brings out the fretless mwah while keeping it from being annoying. When I slap I boost the highs all the way up.. Though there is no recorded evidence of this..

Yeah the smith sounds great direct... even plugged directly into the little tiny sound in on my imac... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WBlCjGh0Ho sounds even better through my old Avalon U5 DI's into my old Apogee AD8000 audio interface... wish I never sold em, but not doin as much home recording any more... so no need...

![]() Thx, Jason. Not just direct; but recorded flat!
BTW: I like what I see and hear with your playing. Keep up the good work. ![]()
