Couple of questions:

1. What pre-amp and pick-ups are you using on this bass?
2. Is the fretboard an original fretless or did someone pull the frets and fill in the slots?

Thank you for your nice comments.

I don't know much about gear. I found the pick up and preamp on ebay. It's a EMG I guess pretty standard...???? paid $50 used.

2. Is the fretboard an original fretless or did someone pull the frets and fill in the slots?
Also don't know.
I got this bass about 12 years ago at a pawn shop.

So here is the story.
I went to this pawn shop to trade in a old speaker cab that I had. they gave me $75 for the cab. Then I saw that bass on a corner. They had just got it. It was all dusty and it looked pretty old. I kept asking the guy how much he wanted and he told me that he had to clean it up and check it out. Asked to come back another day. I kept bugging the guy, and he wanted to get rid of me. So then he went like "how about $75?"

$75. - yeah, that'l work, lol - great find! Chu Ching! When I heard your mix, I was certain it wasn't stock preamp or pick-ups; just wasn't sure what was on that bass. At first I thought it was JEast JRetro pre-amp. Either way, it sounds fantastic! Great score on that bass!

I am working on that. I've tried a lot of axes and I've had some real fancy custom basses, and after all I have to say, nothing feels like a Smith!

@Tim, Thank you for your nice comments.

Excellent! Very clean playing, Eduardo and it's clearly evident you care about that too.
