Not necessarily. I'm not buying that it is a bad P/U.

Here's a couple possibilities why you may have this issue:

1. Maybe it is related to your technique
- Where on the bass are you slapping the strings and how aggressive are you when slapping?

2. Maybe the P/U's are adjusted to close to the strings.
- Depending on what you discover from 1 above, maybe you need to adjust the P/U's accordingly.

3. Depending on what you discover from 1 and 2 above, maybe you need to adjust your output gain (if applicable) on your bass to better match that to your amp.

Consider the above before you throw your money away!
