OK, I'm not giving up.
I've noticed the pickup position on wide (19mm) models is difference than your standard bass. There's more space between the bridge and b/pickup. A midi pickup would fit easily. Is this only reserved for the wide version or also available on a standard 18mm bass? A 19mm Ken Smith:  My Ken Smith bass:
