He plays several different basses. He has two orchestra basses - a small and large - both Italian but I don't know the makers (if they are known). He used his "small" orchestral bass when he played Per Questa Bella Mano on PBS. Before he retired from solo playing he played a beautiful blonde French bass, which I believe he still owns. I'm not sure if these are what he still plays but this is what he had doing in 2006.
Anybody else have more recent info? Or possibly makers on the Italians?
