I just picked up my new BSR7EG from Ken a couple of weeks ago......I absolutely love it! It is Western Maple Core and Tiger Maple top and back. It joins my 7 year old 6 String 'Black Tiger' in the set up! I'll post more pictures of the Black Tiger shortly!

This is my Ken Smith, I have other basses as Sadowsky, Fodera, Fender, Music Man, and are very good instruments, but the "Smith" has a plus !!! I can not explain exactly what I mean, but this low is unique, has a different mechanical, it is more enjoyable to play, I can make things easier with him than with the other basses, and the timbre is the highlight ... wonderful, not lump together with kick drums, very definite notes, just fantastic !!!! Congratulations mister Ken, you reinvented the way to build an electric bass !!! Thank you for being born.

Here are my Smith's. A 2006 Black Tiger Elite 6 string and a 2013 MLD 7 string with western maple core and tiger maple top and back. The photo's are from my visit to Ken's factory back in April 2013. I went to pick up my new 7 string and took the Black Tiger along for some TLC..

Hi all,
I joined the forum last year as I reached out to Ken to know more about his basses. After a bit of research, I managed to travel 400KM to a shop in Japan where I found my first Ken Smith bass. I got an amazingly gorgeous Ken Smith Black Tiger 5 string, with an Ebony fretboard, hard rock maple neck with Sedua veneers, 4A Figured Crotch Walnut top and back and hard rock maple core. A complete beauty! Sharing a couple of photos here! |
