Thumbs up Woods.....

Based on the pics, the top, back and peg-head-face looks like bubinga to me, Al.

When I ordered my 5GN fretless back in '01, I talked with Ken in length about wood choice for my fretless-to-be. The decision: Bubinga top and back (peg-head-face also), Tiger Maple Core with a thick slab of ebony for the FB. Not only is that a great wood choice; let me just add, my '01 5GN fretless is the best sounding fretless I have EVER heard or played.

Thumbs up Strings....

Yeah, slap some Smith Medium Taper Cores on that bass, Al. They truly are the best strings for any Smith bass (or any other EB IMO). Keep in mind though, you will need to do a re-set-up, but once you do, I doubt you'll ever look back.

No doubt, I will be ordering some mediums this week, thanks Ken for the info on the woods.

Tim your eye is on point as always.
