Matt, its a ply bass, and you'd have to be careful how much money you spent on it, but if the only big damage is the cracked heel I think you can get that fixed for a few hundred pounds, have the fingerboard worked a bit and have a workable bass. It probably won't sound glorious, but it will work.

But then after a few weeks you'll want bridge adjusters to get the string height where you like it, and a set of new strings. Another few hundred pounds. Oh and a pickup if you want to play in a band, another hundred at least ...

That's just the basics to get the bass useable. Its not worth paying to fix any of the cosmetic issues.

You should definitely get the inside checked out to make sure the bass bar and bottom block are still firmly attached though, because if you need a top-off repair it may cost you more than the bass is worth.
